Portraiture
Maria, Portobello Road — August 2025
They say no one takes a photo of you better than by someone who loves you. There is a vulnerability, intimacy and admiration they capture — a celebration of that smile, a fondness for your perfect imperfections.
This is the approach I take with my portraiture, candid or not, there is a warmth and familiarity I look for with my subjects. I look for a beauty that goes beyond the surface and allows the viewer to get to know them, through their photo, as I know them.
Shooting on film encourages me to take that extra time, to make sure that I get to know my subjects well enough that their portrait is an honest telling of their story.
